How to register your device to Thingsee Creator & Cloud

How to start connecting to Thingsee Cloud

Once you're logged in you're going to see a screen much like this:

Click "Add a Device" to access the following page:

All the devices added to your account are visible in this view.

Click “Add Device” and follow the instructions.


Step 1 - Adding a device

Connect your Thingsee One to your computer with a USB cable. A new device named "Thingsee" should show up in your file manager as an external disk. Click "Choose file" to open a file picker. Find the "DEVICE.JSN" file located in the root folder of the device and select it.


Step 2 - Thingsee One WiFi / Cellular connection setup

Click 'Next' to choose how your Thingsee One connects to the Internet. This is important to get right so your device knows how to send data. Currently Thingsee One can be configured to use only one type of connection at a time.

Cellular connection

If you set up a cellular connection (not included in sales package), in most cases you only need to insert your APN (Access Point Name, provided by your data service provider). Most SIM cards & services directed for device data connectivity don't require a PIN code. Make sure your SIM card PIN code request is turned off.

NOTE: You can limit the SMS communication in the bottom of the cellular data settings.

If you set up a Wi-Fi connection and you want your device to send live data, be sure to keep your device inside the Wi-Fi network range. (You can also connect to your phone with a tethered Wi-Fi connection.) The other way to connect is to setup a cellular connection using a SIM card.

Wi-Fi is set up by entering your Wi-Fi's network name (SSID), encryption type, and your Wi-Fi password. If you don't use any encryption type or password, select “None”.

Click 'Next' to proceed.


Step 3 - Syncing connection settings to Thingsee One

Your device is now added to your account. You still need to do download CLOUD.JSN to your device to implement the connection settings you just defined.

Download CLOUD.JSN to your computer and then copy the file into your Thingsee One's root folder. If you have done this before, you may be notified that the file aready exists, in which case you can just overwrite the old file.

Please note that your file needs to be named exacly "CLOUD.JSN". Sometimes if you download many CLOUD.JSN files you could get a CLOUD (1).JSN, and so forth, so just rename the file.

At this point you can eject the disk named "Thingsee" and unplug your device. When you unplug, your Thingsee One will apply the settings from the CLOUD.JSN file.

You're now all set up!

You should see your device under Devices menu, with your unique Thingsee One's serial number as the default device name.

You can name your device as just about anything you like by clicking the rename button.
